Bob Sheridan, one of the most famous and respected boxing commentators in the fight sport, is picking Manny Pacquiao in his super fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States. The long-time boxing and mixed martial arts, or MMA commentator stated that he likes Pacquiao’s chances as the underdog against Mayweather, who’s favoured by roughly 2-to-1 odds in most betting outlets and also said that he feels Pacquiao will “just like to shut up Mayweather for the rest of the world.” with a victory in the highly-anticipated bout.

“Whether I’m announcing it or not, my heart is with Pacquiao. I’ll probably bet on Pacquiao because you get a little bit better odds on it. I think the fight is an even fight, I don’t think that the odds that initially came out are to generate action on Pacquiao but when the wealthy Filipinos from around the United States and from The Philippines start pouring their money in, I think that the odds will even up a little bit,” Sheridan shared to ontheropesboxing.com.

“For me, I would take Pacquiao. I’ll probably bet a few dollars on it, I’m not a big bettor but just to have an interest in it. When I say ‘bet’ I bet very little, like $5 to $15 on a fight, just to have an interest in it. I don’t get to the point where I bet $50 or $100 on the fight because I don’t want my bet to influence my call on the fight. That’s the way I’ve always done it because if you have $1000 on the fight, it’s certainly going to influence your call on the fight and I don’t want that to happen.”

Sheridan, who was named as a member of the boxing Hall of Fame as a commentator in 2002, was also asked about the legacy of both Mayweather and Pacquiao and how a win or loss will affect it and Sheridan stated that he thinks Mayweather Jr. is looking to retire undefeated and protect his “zero” loss mark and that a win over a quality fighter like Pacquiao will mean a lot for the American. As for Pacquiao, Sheridan added that he thinks “he’d just like to shut up Mayweather for the rest of the world.”

Sheridan’s commentating resume include calling Muhammad Ali’s own super fights against that likes of George Foreman in the “Rumble in the Jungle” and against Joe Frazier in “Thrilla in Manila”. Other famous fighters whom Sheridan has covered are Larry Holmes, Ken Norton, Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran, Lennox Lewis, Julio Cesar Chavez, Felix Trinidad, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones among many others.
