Welterweight contender Kell Brook was asked for his prediction for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight in May and the British boxer opined that he sees the undefeated American as the likely winner in the fight against the Filipino champion. Brook claimed that Mayweather is “smart” fighter and on top of his game but recognised that Pacquiao is also a dangerous opponent because of his style.

“I see Mayweather winning the fight. I feel that he’s too smart,” Brook said to Fight Hype. Brook was also asked which of the two will be the better match-up for him and Brook admitted that “stylistically” Pacquiao is a bad fit for his type of game but said that a match against Mayweather or Pacquiao will be a close fight.

Brook’s last five bouts has been impressive after he won four by knockout. He won over Hector David Saldivia via a 3rd round KO in October 2012, over Carson Jones via 8th round KO in July 2013, over Vyacheslav Senchenko via 4th round KO in October 2013, over Alvaro Robles via 8th round TKO in March 2014 and Shawn Porter in August 2014 when he won the International Boxing Federation, or IBF welterweight title. Brook will be fighting Jo Jo Dan from Romania on March 28, 2015 for his first title defence.

Mayweather and Paquiao are on the top of the welterweight division where Brook campaigns and along with the likes of Timothy Bradley and another British boxer in Amir Khan, Brooks is considered one of the top contenders in the weight division.

Eddie Hearn, Brook’s promoter also said that he sees a Mayweather win and that the undefeated American will win via late stoppage. The Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is scheduled on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and is considered the best sporting event in 2015.
