British boxer Amir Khan is moving on from wanting a fight with American Floyd Mayweather Jr. and now desires to fight Filipino Manny Pacquiao. Since winning his fight against Devon Alexander of the United States last December 2014, Khan has been regularly calling out Mayweather Jr. to pick him over Pacquiao for a fight in 2015. Khan is now changing tunes and wants a fight with the Filipino, according to a post on his Twitter account.

Who wants to see khan vs Pacquiao because I know Mayweather's running

The Khan vs. Pacquiao match-up is less attractive than Mayweather vs. Pacquiao bout but both fighters in the first pairing has their own large following in both their home countries, United Kingdom and Philippines and around the world. What makes the Khan vs. Pacquiao bout interesting is that both trained under world renowned trainer Amir Khan some years back. Pacquiao still trains under Roach’s Wild Card Gym while Khan has moved on and now trained by Virgil Hunter. By most accounts Khan and Pacquiao also consider each other friends because of their time together under Roach.

Recently though Khan was apparently angered by Roach’s comments that Pacquiao had dominated or knocked down Khan when they were sparring together in past trainings at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. Khan lost to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia in 2011 and 2012 but has since won four straight against Carlos Molina, Julio Diaz, Luis Collazo and Devon Alexander. Pacquiao also lost back to back in 2012 to Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez but has since won three straight against Brandon Rios, Bradley and Chris Algieri.

Khan from Bolton, Lancashire, United Kingdom has a record of 30-3-0 with 19 knockouts and is a known slugger in the ring. Being paired with another aggressive fighter like Pacquiao could mean an exciting fight should the former sparring mates face each other in 2015. There is also a possibility that a Khan vs. Pacquiao fight will take place in London, U.K. where the pair can easily sell out any venue.

Pacquiao’s primary option for now is a fight with Mayweather, according to multiple reports but it is expected that they are already exploring Plan B in case Mayweather decides not to fight Pacquiao. The boxing world continues to wait on Mayweather’s decision, which is taking a long time for a lot of boxing fans. With Khan’s latest tweet, it looks like even the British boxer is tired of waiting as well that he has now decided to focus his efforts in getting that big fight against Manny Pacquiao.
