“The Bourbon Kings” from Endemol Shine Studios, will soon appear as an NBC soap, to be written by David Rambo, co-executive producer of the Fox TV series “Empire” and NBC’s “Revolution.” Rambo is represented by Rothman Brecher.

Deadline reports that “The Bourbon Kings” is based on the best-selling novel of the same title by J.R. Ward. The story focuses on the Bradfords, a family of aristocrats who became rich in the bourbon industry. The executive producers of the upcoming show will be Marcus Blakely, Daniel Rappaport and Ben Forkner, Soap Opera Network states.

Ward’s novel covers the shifting family dynamics of the Bradfords, who have the wealth and privilege, but also a lot of secrets, scandals and deceit. For generations, the Bradford family has been enjoying good business in the bourbon industry. They have a sprawling estate called Easterly.

Lizzie King is the head gardener at Easterly. Despite her stature in life, she fell in love with Tulane, the prodigal son of the Bradfords. The two had a bad breakup, but Tulane is returning home after two years with a beautiful but cruel wife. Tulane’s older brother is described as bitter, while his father, the Bradford head, keeps several dark secrets and only has limited principles in life.

The plot delves deep into the growing tensions among family members and other inhabitants of Easterly. Both professional and private relationships were affected and everyone had to go through a huge transformation, leaving only the cunning to survive, Penguin Random House reveals.

J.R. Ward, whose full name is Jessica Rowley Pell Bird, currently lives in Kentucky. She is a New York Times bestselling author who has sold more than 15 million books. She is represented by APA and The Axelrod Agency.

The Bourbon Kings is my love letter to my adopted home state, and a cautionary tale of big money, traditional values, and hidden sins,” Ward said in a report from The Courier Journal .

There is still no confirmation regarding the future cast members, but fans should expect some updates soon. The new project is slated to launch for the 2016-2017 television season.
