"Boruto Naruto Next Generations" episode 1 had just aired this week and it began the journey of Naruto Uzumaki's son, Boruto. However, before it focused on the young Boruto, it showed a preview of a future Konoha Village and it did not look well.

Spoiler Alert! The first scene showed a teenage-version of Boruto against Kawaki, who might be the future antagonist of the series. During their confrontation, the scene pans out revealing a destroyed Konoha Village.

Kawaki's first words in the pilot episode were "I'll send you where I sent the Seventh Hokage, Boruto." These words can have a lot interpretations, it could either be Naruto being sent to a different dimension or he was killed by Kawaki.

It is possible that Naruto he is sent to another dimension since that happened before in "Naruto Shippuden" during his battle with Kaguya. However, Kawaki might be also referring to the afterlife as a place where he sent the Seventh Hokage.

In either case, Boruto does not seem to be devastated about what happened to his father. It could be because he brushed it off and set it aside until the battle is over or Naruto is alive and can be brought back.

Although the focus here is Boruto and the obvious absence of Konoha Village's Hokage, Naruto, there is one thing that was overlooked. Boruto has Sasuke Uchiha's ninja headband and sword.

Kawaki did not say anything about Sasuke but it looks like he did something far worse to him than what he did to Naruto. The last part of that scene showed Boruto wearing Sasuke's ninja headband and ending in a deadlock with Kawaki.

'Boruto Naruto Next Generations' Opening: No Sasuke Uchiha

Another thing noticeable is that in the anime's opening, Sasuke is nowhere to be seen when Naruto was shown with his friends. It might be a hint that Sasuke will die soon or will die first before Naruto.

That could be the case or Sasuke might not just make an appearance in the first arc of the show. Producers do change the opening every time they change arcs or focus on a different storyline.

Killing of Naruto or Sasuke or both is possible if the directors want to have a Shakespearean way of getting Boruto to become stronger. No one knows what will happen next for now since the anime did not follow the manga route. Showing the first scene without Naruto or Sasuke could just be a marketing plan in order to keep the viewers watching "Boruto Naruto Next Generations."
