Speaking about the final episode, Jon Bokenkamp, creator of the show, told Entertainment Weekly (EW), “The storyline of Liz and her mother and how she’s connected to Red is going to be at the heart of our finale.”

Liz’s parents were Russian intelligence agents, according to Red. He also told Liz in episode 20 that she was born in Moscow and her real name is Masha. And he knew Liz’s mother, a KGB agent, as Katarina Rostova. Red, however, did not reveal what kind of relationship he had with Katarina. Also he did not tell Liz why he blocked Liz’s memory of the night of the fire.

The final two episodes are set to revisit that “critical night,” according to Bokenkamp. He said that the “much of the story has its roots” in that night. As previously reported, the final episode is going to provide big answer about what happened on the night of the fire.

Masha Rostova,” the real name of Liz, is the title of the final episode. This episode 22 of “The Blacklist” Season 2 will see Cabal trying to frame Liz. According to the synopsis, this will prompt Red to tap into his connections to clear Liz’s name.

Meanwhile, the penultimate episode of “The Blacklist” Season 2, titled “Karakurt," will see Liz becoming a target as she searches for her mother’s past. The blacklister of this episode is a Russian assassin called Karakurt. He has been hired by the evil Cabal to execute an act of domestic terror, according to the synopsis.

The episode 21 will see Agent Ressler and Liz visiting the Russian counter-intelligence to get information on the Russian assassin. During this visit, Liz will be finding some information about her mother, as well. It looks like the final two episodes of “The Blacklist” Season 2 are chock-full with major revelations.

NBC has already renewed “The Blacklist” for Season 3.
