“The Blacklist” Season 2 finale ended with Liz joining Red on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list. The two were last seen heading to an undisclosed location in a van. Megan Boone, who plays Liz, has said that with Liz on the run, “The Blacklist” Season 3 is going to be a different show but with the same set of characters.

"Season 3 is going to be the same characters but a different show, a very different dynamic. Because now Liz Keen is no longer working within the law," Boone told Zap2It.

The final episode of “The Blacklist” Season 2 featured multiple twists and a couple of major revelations. Liz found out what happened on the night of the fire. She remembered the crime she had committed as a young girl when she shot the attorney general Tom Connolly. On the night of the fire, Liz had shot her father when he had become violent during an argument with her mother. Liz realised that Red became her sin-eater by blocking that memory of the night to protect her, and not to protect himself.

With Liz gone, Cooper handing over his badge, and Agent Ressler heading the taskforce, things would not be the same at the post office when “The Blacklist” returns this fall with new episodes. Without revealing much about “The Blacklist” Season 3 plotline, Boone said to Zap2it, "If you break open the entire task force, then it will be challenging to try to find the procedural aspect of the show again.”

The actress also hinted that the structure of the show is going to see a change. She said it benefits the show to have a formula because of the 22 episodes per season, adding that they are going to “break open a lot of the structure of the show.”

Meanwhile, in an interview to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Blacklist” creator Jon Bokenkamp said that Season 3 will see that Red continues to struggle with the thought that he has failed Liz. He also said that Red and Liz are entering the third season as fugitives. The upcoming season will open a new chapter of her life.
