The midseason finale of “The Blacklist” Season 3, titled “Kings of the Highway,” Liz (Megan Boone) was caught by the FBI after running from the agency and a group of assassins. She will be with Red (James Spader) at the place where everything started in the first episode.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “The Blacklist” season 3 episode 9 spoilers.

In Episode 8, while Liz and Red were traveling to West Virginia, a group of robbers, known as Kings of the Highway, kidnapped Red and robbed him. They initially wanted to surrender Red in exchange for cash, but Liz managed to get him back. Liz swapped Red for one of the gang members, plus a package from Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) with the contents that will exonerate her. At the end, Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and his team arrested Liz.

In the synopsis, Red will come up with a crime scene to get his care package back. Friends of the truth will also support Liz while she is held in custody.

Entertainment Weekly reports that executive producer Jon Bokenkamp said during an interview that Liz will be exposed to greater risks after being captured. The Cabal will definitely go after her to keep her from revealing information to the FBI. Ressler thought that they can secure Liz, but the FBI may be pushed to the edge, compelling them to opt for desperate measures to save Liz and fight the assassins. Ressler might ask for help from Red and take on an unorthodox approach to managing the situation. The two will set aside their differences at the moment to pursue the same important objective.

Bokenkamp added that fans will find Liz inside a glass box, the same one used to contain Red in the pilot episode. It is not yet certain how she ended up in the strange container, but Liz and Red will be returning to familiar places.

Christine Lahti and David Strathairn are set to guest star in the next episode, writes ComicBookMovie.

The Blacklist” Season 3 Episode 9, titled “The Director,” will air on Jan. 7, 2016 on NBC after a short holiday recess. More updates and details are expected in the coming days.
