Chicago Blackhawks finally put away the Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-0 in Game 6 on Monday night to get their third National Hockey League title in the past six seasons.

The Blackhawks clinched the Cup at home for the first time since 1938 and also won the Stanley Cup while on the road in 1961, 2010, and 2013. Overall, it was their sixth Cup in franchise history.

With the game scoreless late in the second period, Blackhawks defenceman Duncan Keith followed up his own rebound and beating Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop from the slot at 17:13 of the second period. The crowd went crazy after an open Patrick Kane made his first goal of the finals with a perfect pass from Brad Richards at 14:46 of the third.

A wild celebration erupted from the home crowd breaking up loud chants “We want the Cup!”

Bishop, who made 30 saves, and big defenceman Victor Hedman led the Lightning’s push to extend the series only allowing 13 goals in the series, but it wasn’t enough as the Blackhawks capitalized with Lightning’s lack of firepower.

The Blackhawks won the final three games in the series tohand the Lightning its first three game losing streak in the entire season.

Keith, a two-time Norris trophy winner for best defenceman, played a total of 700 minutes in the postseason and finished with 21 points.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay star Steve Stamkos, who ended the series scoreless in eight straight games, and Tyler Johnson combined only for one goal in the series after coming into it with a total of 20 goals.
