In the world of rectangular flagships, the latest outbreak is Samsung S6, yet the BlackBerry enthusiasts say that the final version of Passport that has been released in the last quarter of 2014 absolutely stands out. At the first glance, Smartphone enthusiasts had mixed reactions, with its 4.5 inch square screen and three-row keyboard, without touch sensor. The appearance of Passport may be indifferent, but everyone gives it a second glance, as the target customer is not the average Joe rather the productive professionals.

Design

The BlackBerry model is unique in its design with the physical keyboard that allows easy and accurate typing, unlike other touchscreen flagships. The square shape screen has a steel frame, but the back panel is built with soft plastic. The BlackBerry Passport display is wider, while the counterpart Samsung S6 has 5.1 inch screen size with touch screen technology. The front frame is crafted with aluminum, while the back panel glows with Gorilla Glass 4.

Display

Incredible Super AMOLED quality of Galaxy S6 ensures better quality with a hi-fi resolution of 1400x2560 pixels & 577 ppi. Passport version also has equally rich make-up with IPS LCD 4.5 inch screen at a higher resolution of 1440x1440 pixels & 453ppi.

Specs

The Christian Times report conveys, “The Galaxy S6 pulls ahead of its competitor in terms of specks”, namely due to the Exynos 7420 chipset, while the BlackBerry Passport system chip has Qalcomm Snapdragon 801. BlackBerry works with BlackBerry 10 OS and the user interface of Galaxy S6 is TouchWiz, with Android 5.0 Lollipop features.

Storage

Both BlackBerry Passport and Galaxy S6 have the same 3 GB RAM on-board each, yet is BlackBerry is prefered for its external storage option, which may range for about 128 GB. Samsung S6 does not enclose any extended storage capacity and it is one of the setbacks of the device.

Camera

The rear camera of BlackBerry Passport features 13MP and the S6 has 16 MP. Similarly, the front camera is built with 2MP and the S6 comes with 5MP to please the selfie fans. Passport features autofocus, face detection, touch to focus, digital zoom and Geo tagging technology; and the S6 is crammed with BSI, Autofocus, AF Assist Beam, Optical image stabilization, manual focus, smile detection, face detection, digital zoom, self timer, geo tagging and voice activation.

Price

The price specification of both the flagships is dissimilar. The Galaxy S6 with 32 GB can be availed at $199 (two years contract) and the BlackBerry’s product is priced at $249 (two years contract), while the unlocked form costs $599.
