In 2015, BlackBerry embraced Google’s Android OS and released the BlackBerry PRIV in November. This year, the company will also bring in two mid-range Android-powered handsets, confirmed BlackBerry CEO John Chen.

One of the two rumoured handsets code named as BlackBerry Hamburg has been spotted on GFXBench with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 SoC. The octa-core 1.5 GHz processor will be paired with Adreno 405 for graphics. The smartphone has been listed with 3GB RAM and 16GB in-built memory.

The rumoured handset carries a model number STH100-x. The smartphone runs Android 6.0.1 out-of-the-box.

According to the benchmark database, the upcoming Blackberry handset will feature a 5.2-inch display with Full-HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). It is tipped to sport a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera sensor along with an 8MP selfie shooter.

As of writing this, there is no information on the price of the speculated BlackBerry Hamburg.

In 2016, BlackBerry has two Android smartphones in the pipeline this year -- BlackBerry ‘Hamburg’ and BlackBerry ‘Rome.’ Speculations indicate that one handset will come with a physical keyboard and the other will sport only a touchscreen display.

The Canadian company is yet to confirm the names and release that of the devices. However, according to prevailing rumours, the former is slated to be released this fall whereas the latter might arrive by the end of 2016, as reported by Tech Times.

In an interview with The National, Chen accepted that the PRIV was “to high-end a product,” which resulted in poor sales of the smartphone. In April, Blackberry announced that it had sold only 600,000 handsets during the quarter ending on March 31, 2016.

Keeping its enterprise customers in mind, BlackBerry this is expected to keep the price of its upcoming handsets in US$400 (AU$554) range.
