Multi-award winning actor Johnny Depp opened up about falling in love with wife Amber Heard during the Los Angeles premiere of “Danish Girl” on Monday. The actor had been silent about his private life for very long.

Depp revealed to E! News that he fell for Heard for her “far too many amazing qualities.” The actor said he and his wife “connect” on a lot of things like music and books.

“The first thing that really got me was she’s an aficionado of the blues. I would play a song, some old obscure blue songs, and she knew what it was,” he said.

The “Black Mass” star also said his wife Heard was a “voracious reader” as he have been. He tagged Heard as “very literate,” “kind of brilliant” and “beautiful.”

Depp called himself “a lucky man” to have a special woman like Heard in his life.

At the same event, the Golden Globe-award winning actor praised Heard for her work as an actress in the most-critiqued film “The Danish Girl.” Heard plays the role of Oola Paulson, a ballet dancer and friend of lead characters, in the movie adaptation of David Ebershoff’s book of the same title.

“[The Danish Girl] is a very beautiful movie and I’m very proud of her. She worked very hard,” the actor said.

Depp thought that his wife Heard was “perfect” for the role in the movie, and it seemed that the actress belongs in it. The actor explained that he always felt like he was supposed to be in a “different time,” which he felt for Heard the first time he saw her.

Depp, 52 and Heard, 29 have been living a happy marriage since February. The pair first met on the set of “The Rum Diary” in 2011. Depp has two kids -- Lily Rose Depp, 16 and Jack John Christopher Depp III, 13.

“The Danish Girl” is scheduled to hit theatres on Nov. 27 in the U.S. and Jan. 28 in Australia.
