A video about racial profiling and traffic stops by a young African American has gone viral in the wake of the fatal shooting of Walter Scott, 50, in North Charleston, S.C. Police officer Michael Slager was recently fired for fired his .45-caliber Glock eight times four of which hit Scott in the back.

In the viral video, Will Stack, 22, a service member with the Army National Guard, shared his experience being pulled over by a White police officer for “improper use of the median” while he was trying to make a left turn at the Lexington County Courthouse.

Stack explained that the median was not full while the lane in front of him was full so he decided to get to the left turn lane through the median. A police officer immediately pulled him over and asked for his license, proof of insurance and registration.

According to Stack, he did what the police officer told him to do. He says in the video, “While he was here with me, I made sure my hands were on the steering wheel. I made sure to speak very politely as I always do.”

When the officer returned a short time later, Stack got an explanation of the proper use of a median and he admitted it was a poor choice in his part. He points out in the video that he is an African American male and the police officer was Caucasian. Watch the video here:
