Former child actress Raven-Symone visits the set of “Black-ish’ next week as the series airs its Mother’s Day special. Naturally, Andre’s mom Ruby will also be making a prominent appearance in the episode. Here’s what to expect in episode 22, titled “Please Don’t Ask, Please Don’t Tell”: [Warning: Spoiler Alert]

What’s not to tell? Well it turns out that Raven will be playing Andre’s sister Rhonda who’s in town for a short visit. As it happens, Rhonda is a lesbian. There really isn’t any problem with that except for the fact that her and Andre’s mother Ruby (guest star Jenifer Lewis), does not know about that. Andre is happy enough to zip his lips about his sister’s gender orientation but Rainbow thinks that they should tell Ruby.

Speaking about gender orientation, Andre feels that it’s time to train his son Andre Junior about the “gaydar.” The internal imaginary device is supposedly used to detect if another person is gay or straight. Just like talking to his kids about the birds and the bees, Andre sets out to teach his eldest son all about the important skill of using one’s “gaydar.”

Meanwhile, since this is a Mother’s Day special after all, the youngest Johnson kids have the special occasion in mind. Six-year-old twins Jack and Diane decide to compete against each other to determine which one of them can give their mom Rainbow the best Mother’s Day present.

Mama’s boy Andre would also want to impress his own mother on this day. The question is, will that cause friction between him and Rainbow once again? Rainbow and Ruby already have a strained relationship so having both women under the same roof on an important occasion, honouring mothers, will be an interesting dilemma for Andre to navigate around.

“Back-ish” Episode 22, “Please Don’t Ask, Please Don’t Tell.” is scheduled to air next Wednesday at 9:30 pm. The series airs right after “Modern Family” on ABC.
