It is the time of the year when the biggest and hottest artists were gathered in one place to honor those who topped the charts.

The stars lined up the red carpet to show off their suits and dresses. Avant garde dresser Amber Rose managed to make heads turn her way when she showed up in a white strapless dress that showed more than what it should. Country singers Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood stole the scene with their sexy and sultry looks. Former Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus turned the heads of many in a wrong way when she showed up in an oversized suit with shoulder pads. Usher and John Legend looked like they went to the same stylist. The former donned a teal suit and John went for a geeky get up.

This year's Billboard Awards is definitely one of the most successful award shows. Billboard Awards 2012 is hosted by Modern Family couple Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was kicked off by a booming and groovy performance by LMFAO who won six awards for Hot 100 Song of the Year ("Party Rock Anthem") and for Top Duo/Group, beating out Maroon 5 and Lady Antebellum. See the video below for the duo SkyBlu and Red Foo performance.

The night belonged to Adele named as the biggest winner with 12 awards to add to her success. This includes Top Female Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Pop Album, for 21, and Top Alternative Song, for "Rolling in the Deep." Billboard named Taylor Swift its Woman of the Year, handed Katy Perry the Spotlight Award and honored Stevie Wonder with the Icon award.

The Billboard Awards also pay tribute to the singers who passed away - Whitney Houston, Donna Summer and Adam Yauch. The hosts also recognized Bee Gees member, Barry Gibb, after news of his death broke just hours before the ceremony. See the video for the tribute to amazing singer Whitney Houston.
