The $14-million Madame Tussauds museum is making its way Down Under and Australians are keeping their eyes on their favorite stars that will be featured in its opening in Darling Harbour, Sydney next year.

It has been confirmed that the world-famous London attraction will have its fourteenth franchise next year and its opening will be held at Darling Harbor, Sydney in May 2012.

A strong line-up of local big stars is already being in works the Madam Tussauds Down Under.

Big Aussie Hollywood celebrities lead the pack of 70 prominent personalities to be displayed in Sydney’s Madame Tussauds. Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman and former Oscar’s Hugh Jackman will sure be featured in the museum.

The Herald Sun reports that “Home and Away” Alf Stewart played by actor Ray Meagher has already worked with the museum coordinators and began the painstaking process of having his wax done.

A good thing for celebrity-loving Aussies as this marks Madame Tussauds Museum 200th year.

"The latest attraction will reflect the franchise?s 200 years of expertise and research, with each figure crafted with both a high level of artistry and accuracy," Merlin Entertainment Australia director Edward Fuller was quted as saying by The Agence France Presse.

"Most contemporary figures are also produced following sittings with the celebrities themselves, and talks are already well advanced with a number of Australian icons."

Founded by renowned wax sculptor Marie Tussauds, Madame Tussauds is known for its wax figures of society’s prominent personalities including historical and royal figures, film stars, sports and music icon. Some of its popular wax figures include President Barack Obama, Queen Elizabeth, Lance Armstrong, Jennifer Lopez and Canada’s teen sensation, Justin Bieber.

The London tourist attraction, now in global major cities, showcases figures of classic Hollywood icons like Clark Gable, James Dean, Vivien Leigh, Audrey Hepburn and more.

London’s Madame Tussauds has its franchise in Hollywood, New York, Hongkong, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, Berlin, Blackpool, Washington D.C., Bangkok, Shanghai, and Wien.
