“Big Brother Australia” housemate Lawson has burst into tears after admitting to cheating on his girlfriend with Cat. The two housemates’ controversial time in the sanctuary has been revealed, and they weren’t as innocent as they first claimed to be.

The Sanctuary

When Cat was declared Head of House during the weekend, she was given use of the sanctuary overnight with a housemate of her choice. She chose Lawson, whom she has feelings for. This prompted the other housemates to talk about them, with the consensus it was wrong for Cat to take Lawson, and it’s wrong for Lawson to agree to the 31-year-old divorcee.

While in bed, Cat and Lawson covered themselves with the doona, and there were kissing sounds heard. They denied that something happened between them the next day, though.

Lawson has a girlfriend outside the house, a fact that everyone inside the BB house knows, including Cat. However, that didn’t stop Cat from falling for him. When she previously admitted that her feelings for him aren’t the friendly type, Lawson confessed that he also feels “exactly the same way.” However, he added that they couldn’t take their relationship to the next level.

That didn’t seem to be the case when they entered the sanctuary, though.

Cat’s Power Play

As part of her Power Play task, Cat was presented with two DVDs, one had a label of “Big Brother’s Secret,” and the other was marked as “Your Secret.” The first DVD contained the other housemates’ nomination footage, while the second one showed her visit to the sanctuary. If she opted to view “Big Brother’s Secret,” she would allow her fellow housemates to watch “Your Secret.”

Since Lawson was also featured in the “Your Secret” DVD, Big Brother has called the 23-year-old resident magician to help her decide which DVD should she watch. As the “Your Secret” DVD was about their sanctuary escape, Cat and Lawson should already know what it contained. However, perhaps knowing that they looked guilty of having an affair in the DVD, Cat opted not to share her secret to the other housemates.

Lawson’s Confession

In the diary room shortly after the viewing session with Cat, Lawson confessed to Big Brother that he has let his mum down. His mother died in an accident when he was 19.

“I’m a bad person, Big Brother,” the despondent housemate said. “I think that I’ve let everybody down. I feel like I really wanted to make my mum proud. I’ve let her down.”

At this point, Lawson was fighting back tears, continuing, “I’ve let everybody down, Big Brother,” before completely breaking down.

“My mum once said to me that I self-destruct my relationships. I feel like I’ve just self-destructed my life, Big Brother. And I’m embarrassed. My partner … my girlfriend, and her family.”

Lawson reminded Big Brother that the faceless voice would inform him if there’s news about his girlfriend outside the house. He wanted to find out if his girlfriend has broken up with him. However, Big Brother told Lawson that he had no news about her yet.

According to news.com.au, Candice Leeder, his girlfriend of five years, was forced to shut down her social media accounts after watching Lawson and Cat’s sanctuary date.

Lawson previously told fellow housemate Ryan that he regretted saying yes to Cat in the sanctuary. He also revealed that he and his girlfriend broke up a week before he was to enter the BB lockdown, but got back together the next day.

Drew and Tully

Lawson and Cat’s affair is comparable to last season’s Drully scandal, in which housemates Anthony “Drew” Drew and Tully Smyth started a relationship inside the house even though Tully still had a girlfriend outside. However, unlike Lawson’s girlfriend Candice who closed her online profiles, Tully’s then-girlfriend Tahlia Farrant publicly dumped her on Twitter after watching Tully and Drew exchanged I love you’s and kisses under the doona.

The scandal had been the season’s most talked-about topic as Tully became one of the most memorable “villains” in reality TV.

As for Lawson and Cat, they started out as one of viewers’ favourites, with Cat even being saved from eviction and winning votes for the Head of House. However, since their sanctuary affair has aired on Sunday, their popularity seemed to have dwindled on social media. Cat’s public votes during the last eviction have also dropped significantly. She isn’t up for eviction this week, though, Lawson is.

Hotel Tasks

The ambitious hotel challenge for the week has got the housemates feeling fortunate and entitled or hurt and angry, depending on which role they were playing. Staff members – Jason, Ryan, David, Sam, Priya, Sandra and Leo – felt that the some housemates have truly latched on to their role as inconsiderate hotel guests.

Jason was chosen by the remaining guests – Aisha, David, Travis, Skye and Lisa – as the best staff member, and therefore became the winner of $3,000 from AppliancesOnline.com.au. The bad news is that the housemates have failed the task.

After the task has been declared finished, the former guests and staff have tried to clear the misunderstandings between them. While most of the guests appeared to have accepted how badly they have acted during the challenge, Travis was adamant that they did nothing wrong, claiming that being waited on hand and foot was their break from being nominated every week.
