Being the first smartwatch from Apple’s stable, the Apple Watch gained a lot of popularity. For that matter, the demand for Apple Watch surpassed the number of units manufactured by the company. However, big app makers are being skeptical about rolling out apps on the watch.

According to a report on The New York Times, big app developers, namely, Facebook, Google and Snapchat are still evaluating the Apple Watch. Apple had approached social networking giant Facebook for designing an app for the device, however, till date, Apple Watch has not yet got a Facebook app.

Adam Mosseri, who is in charge of Facebook’s news feed said that the company is yet to figure out a way to deliver good Facebook experience that includes posts, photos, videos, on a small screen. The New York Times quoted Mosseri saying, “I don’t know if we could get it all in there in a way that feels good and works well.”

Prior to the launch of Apple Watch, developers were tasked to develop apps for the smartwatch. Infact, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook had said that Apple Watch will get around 3,000 apps at the time of its launch but there are only five out of the top 20 apps of iPhone that are available for the Apple Watch, reports Bidness Etc.

Apple disclosed its Q3 earnings report today and it is for the first time Apple has included the Apple Watch’s sales number in its earnings report. However, Apple plans to unite the sales figure of Apple Watch with “other products” category. According to New York Times, the implicit inclusion of the Apple Watch’s sales numbers might invite scrutiny by investors and other interested groups.

Evan Spiegel, founder of Snapchat does not seem to be convinced when it comes to making apps for Apple Watch. The Bidness Etc report quoted Spiegel saying, “Why would you look at a small picture when you can look at a large one on your phone?”

In order to enable native apps to run on the Apple Watch, the Cupertino based tech giant declared that it will be releasing WatchOS2. Some of the big app makers that are already developing apps for Apple Watch are Yelp, Twitter, Amazon and Evernote.
