Time seems to be flying for singer and actress Beyoncé Knowles, with pregnancy up her sleeve and a performance lined up for the 2017 Grammy Awards. It is for the second time that the former “Destiny’s Child” singer has gotten pregnant. On Wednesday, Knowles and husband Jay Z made the announcement that they are expecting twins.

“We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over,” Beyoncé wrote in an Instagram post showing her baby bump. “We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes,” she said.

The couple had kept the R&B singer's pregnancy under wraps previously. Even expecting grandfather Mathew Knowles was not aware of the news. The 65-year-old, who now manages the girl group “Blush,” said it all came as a shock to him.

“I got a first text, and I was like, ‘Why is this person saying congratulations?’ Then I get a second text from one of my students at Texas Southern, and I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ He was like, ‘Go to the web.’ I didn’t know myself,” Mathew described, according to the Insider.

Mathew Knowles further confirmed his daughter’s impending performance for the 2017 Grammy Awards. “She sounded a little tired, ’cause she’s been working on the GRAMMY performance,” he said.

According to People, the singer has been nominated for at least nine awards at the annual ceremony. Beyoncé’s newest album “Lemonade” and its leading single “Formation” have multiple nominations at the 59th Grammy Awards. Also, this is not the first time that Beyoncé is slated to perform for the Grammys. She had taken the stage several times, in 2004, 2007 and 2008, 2010, 2014 as well as in 2015.

More on Queen Bey’s pregnancy

According to a report by Radar Online, “Beyoncé and Jay Z choose one female and one male embryo,” a source close to the couple reportedly said. Queen Bey had a history of miscarriages and had a hard time conceiving on her own, which was why the couple decided to go for in vitro fertilisation (IVF), explained the source.

It was previously reported that the couple were on the brink of divorce over Jay Z’s alleged infidelity. Apparently, the couple had gone great lengths to save their broken marriage and the twins firmly testify to it. Beyoncé and Jay Z also have a five-year-old daughter named Blue Ivy.
