“Better Call Saul” is the prequel of “Breaking Bad” and can be considered the origin story of Saul Goodman. But because the series begins with the character’s initial persona of Jimmy McGill, fans of the franchise have been waiting for that character turning point -- and it will all unfold in the upcoming season 3.

At the beginning of the series, viewers are introduced to Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), a small time attorney that is doing right by his clients and eventually makes a name for himself. But as “Better Call Saul” continued, viewers watched as Jimmy was constantly tested, and they questioned if he would finally turn into notorious Saul, Albuquerque’s go-to criminal lawyer. The second season ended with a cliffhanger that might have begun the character’s devolution.

The official synopsis from AMC noted that Chuck (Michael McKean) secretly recorded his brother Jimmy’s confession to a felony. In the upcoming season, however, the repercussions of his schemes against Jimmy and Kim (Rhea Seehorn) are worse than ever before. It is insinuated that this particular situation and the corresponding existential threat to Jimmy is what pushes his moral compass to its limit.

The details were understandably left out of the actual synopsis, but it is clear enough that this season of “Better Call Saul” is when audiences will finally witness Jimmy cross the line. And in an interview with Eurweb, actor Odenkirk hinted that the trigger will be Jimmy’s relationship with Kim. He pointed out that there are very few things that his character actually loves, and that one of those things is Kim. Saul, on the other hand, did not seem like a person who had that kind of love in his life. “He seems to be very self-serving,” Odenkirk said. “[And he does not seem to be] trying to achieve much beyond his -- just money and power.”

The actor went on to say how Saul, with his baggage and intelligence, did not seem like a person that had anyone for whom to be better for. “I wonder how he doesn’t have someone like Kim in his life anymore,” he mysteriously told the publication.

“Better Call Saul” season 3 will debut on US network AMC on April 10. Australian audiences can stream the same on Stan, and it has recently been confirmed that it will aired on the same day. The actual time, however, has not yet been announced.
