Thanks to Mark Ruffalo's recent revelation, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's crumbling marriage is once again making headlines as the couple struggles to keep their marital conflict to themselves. The Hollywood couple recently celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary on June 29, Sunday, in Detroit, Michigan and enjoyed a romantic night with a low-key dinner at Bistro 82.

"They were drinking red wine," an onlooker told Us Weekly , who dined at the French restaurant in Royal Oak. "They looked relaxed. No one was really bothering them at all-they were really normal, they fit in."

Currently filming "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" in Detroit, Ben spent some alone time with his wife who flew in solo on Sunday to enjoy their wedding anniversary. The "Draft Day" star spent some time with her three kids (Violet, eight, Seraphina, five, and Samuel, two) in her hometown of Charleston, W. VA before sending them back to L.A. with a nanny.

The actress was spotted at the West Virginia's Power stadium with her parents and three children and cheered on the team to victory as part of her low-key weekend trip to see family and close friends. She also stopped by her alma mater, George Washinton High School, on Friday, before catching the game that made a lot of spectators happy as they tweeted their excitement of Jen's returning to her roots.

"She never understood his gambling obsession and she doesn't want him to be in the news [for it]," an insider told PEOPLE in an interview. "[But] she's the most patient wife ever and is still very much in love with Ben."

The "Fargo" star bought his wife a jewelry from Barneys in Beverly Hills last week before seeing her in Detroit for their anniversary dinner. The two tied the knot back in 2005 after they met and fall in love on the set of "Daredevil." Before getting married, Ben was previously engaged to Jennifer Lopez and Jen was married to her "Alias" costar Scott Foley.
