Few AAA games launch launch without some sort of pre-release announcement indicating the availability of a season pass or pre-release DLC. The reality is that as game development budgets rise, publishers continue to search for additional revenue streams to make their investments safe. Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have revealed that gamers will be able to purchase a DLC season pass for “Batman Arkham Knight,” adding that a premium edition version of the game will also be made available.

News of the season pass DLC comes directly from the “Batman Arkham” Twitter account. The announcement states that buyers will get regular new content for a period of six months after launch, including story missions, super-villains and more. As noted by Gamespot, a press release followed, which added that new skins for the Batmobile, advanced challenge maps, alternate character skins and race tracks would also be included in the season pass, which comes priced at $40.

For $100, gamers will be able to get the “Batman Arkham Knight” premium edition. The premium edition contains the base game as well as all content available via the season pass. News of this comes following Rocksteady’s announcement that it would be creating a timed-exclusive Nightmare Missions pack for PlayStation owners. The Nightmare Missions sees the caped crusader attempting to stop the villainous Scarecrow from enacting a fiendish plan on Gotham. The content is expected to be exclusive to PlayStation through at least fall 2015.

In news that will please owners of all consoles and platforms, the team at Rocksteady recently unveiled a brand new, previously unknown feature for “Arkham Knight” called Dual Play. Originally teased by game director Sefton Hill via Twitter, Dual Play allows gamers to take control of Batman and one of his three allies; Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman, in the middle of freeflow combat to perform devastating manoeuvres.

“Not to rub it in but I reviewed the latest edit and it's looking sweet, you might well see someone familiar from Arkham City in there. The trailer also shows off a very cool new feature to “Batman Arkham Knight” that no one outside of Rocksteady / Warner has seen before,” Hill teased in a tweet.

A full trailer hosted on the “Batman Arkham” YouTube channel announces the feature and shows off some of the quartets acrobatic moves. Following a series of delays to ensure the game ships in the best possible shape, Rocksteady’s magnum opus will be released on PS4, PC and Xbox One on June 23.
