Spoiler alert! This article contains “Bates Motel” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the new episode airs.

The previous episode ended with Norma secluding herself for her son. Dylan and Romero were convincing her that Norman needed help. With her motherly instincts and blindness to see the truth, she did not listen and shut everyone out. Unluckily, her decision may have led to her demise. Norman lost it as he closed the vents to his mother’s room and turned on the furnace. He was attempting to have the ideal murder-suicide so that he could be with Norma forever. The episode ended with Romero discovering both of them unconscious, unable to wakeup Norma.

The big question viewers are asking is whether he succeeded with the planned murder-suicide of his mother. If he did, the series would have the vibe and storyline of Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho.”

The trailer for the finale episode shows Norman awake in bed. A flashback of him telling his mother that she is everything to him comes up. Then, a shot of Norman looking at the grate, where there’s a fire, was shown. The clip also shows Romero throwing a chair through the window so that air would come in. He then carries an unconscious Norma out of the room. He succumbs to desperation as he tries his best to revive his wife, while Norman lays beside her.

The synopsis for episode 10 also says that Norman will be planning a special event for his mother. Another question is what would that even be? Viewers are speculating that it might be his mother’s funeral, if she does not make it. Or, it could be a hallucination or dream that Norman experiences when he almost died.

On the other hand, Romero experiences pressure from all aspects, AETv says in its. This may have various meanings, ranging from Bob Paris’ death to the state of Norma’s condition.

Lastly, Dylan thinks about reaching out to him. However, he does not want anything to do with Norma. To answer all these questions, fans would just have to watch the season ender. “Bates Motel” airs on the A&E Network on May 16. It also airs on Fox in Australia.
