Updates for the upcoming “The Bachelor” Australia 2016 have been announced. For upcoming season, Richie Strahan will be choosing among 22 hopefuls.

“The Bachelor” Australia 2016 will premiere on July 27, Wednesday, at 7:30 p.m. on Channel Ten. The start of the show will also be the beginning of Richie’s search to find love on national television. This also signals the return of Australia’s (arguably) national past time of judging strangers on television, the Pedestrian.tv points out.

This is not the first time that Richie is set to win the hearts of millions as he proceeds on his journey to find the love of his life. He first appeared in “The Bachelorette” in 2015.

He shared that his decision to become the Bachelor for 2016 was not done overnight. He revealed that he thought it over for a long time and even up to the very last minute to accept the offer that the network was giving him.

The upcoming bachelor shared to viewers and fans the reason behind his reluctance to join the show. He said that he was afraid to have his heart broken once more on national TV.

The previous heartbreak Strahan was referring to was when he first joined “The Bachelorette.” He managed to be part of the last three choices before he was finally let go. Ever since the show finished its run, the upcoming bachelor reportedly stayed good friends with the bachelorette who dumped him -- Sam Frost.

The ex-bachelorette is a 26-year-old radio host. In one interview, Sam said that she was the one who pushed the producers to pick Strahan as the next bachelor for the 2016 run.

She added that she thought that Strahan was so lovely especially during his time with her on the show. She said that he was there for the right reasons, unlike half of the other contestants whom may have had other intentions in joining the show, the Daily Mail reports.

“The Bachelor Australia” will air on Channel Ten every Wednesday, starting July 27.
