Azealia Banks Calls Iggy Azalea ‘Igloo Australia’ For Keeping Silent Over The Eric Garner Grand Jury Decision

Azealia Banks is angry at the controversial grand jury verdicts in the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases so she’s directing her fury at Australian rapper Iggy Azalea. The “212” songstress called her fellow hip-hop artist “Igloo Australia” for apparently speaking up for the black people.

Racial tension in America has reached peak once again in a span of just a few weeks after a grand jury decided not to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo on Wednesday. In July, Pantaleo killed 43-year-old Garner while he was trying to arrest the African American man. He put his arms around the taller man’s head and applied a headlock, choking Garner to death.

The decision came a few weeks following Brown’s case. In late November, the prosecuting attorney announced that the jury decided not to indict Officer Darren Wilson for fatally shooting Brown.

With two racially charged cases falling unfavourably for African Americans, Banks was understandably upset. However, she has directed her anger at someone who isn’t even an American and unquestionably didn’t have anything to do with the cases.

She called on Iggy for being silent about “black issues” but claim to be one of them. In a series of tweets, she managed to insult the 24-year-old NSW native, all the while praising Iggy’s rival Nicki Minaj. She also dared rapper T.I. to defend his protégé.

As of the time of Banks’ tweets, Minaj hasn’t spoken up about the issues either. T.I. has also remained silent. Iggy, on the other hand, only responded to Banks’ digs after a few hours. She did not mention the slightly younger rapper’s name, though it is apparent that she was referring to Banks when she encouraged people to do something productive rather than “promote shade, trolling, fan fights and memes.”
