Australia’s homegrown singer-songwriter Matt Corby has released a new track called "Monday" on Thursday. He also announced his national tour in November.

The single was dropped on a podcast with Triple J Breakfast with Matt and Alex, and it was recently uploaded on Corby’s official channel on YouTube. "Monday" was written in Berry, NSW, where most of the tracks from Corby's forthcoming album were written.

The song, which took just ten minutes to record, did not use any instruments. Only Corby’s voice can be heard, backed by background harmonies, claps and stomps.

In the interview, Corby told Alex that the song was "just a little statement as to where I'm at". "Some songs you write to prove a point or get a point across or say something to yourself or other people or maybe explain yourself and I think that one's an explanation of how I felt about how I've progressed," he said.

This is the first time in two years that the soulful folk crooner has released a single. His last two successful singles"Brother" and "Resolution" were released in 2011 and 2013, respectively.

Corby will soon hit the road to promote his new album, which is due to be released in 2016. Here are the tour dates of his upcoming national tour straight from his official website:

Nov. 02: The Tivoli, Brisbane

Nov. 04: Adelaide

Nov. 06: Metropolis, Fremantle

Nov. 09: Fortum Theatre, Melbourne

Nov. 16: Metro Theatre, Sydney

Prior to his commercial success, Corby, who cites Jeff Buckley, Nash & Young, Radiohead, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan and Sam Cooke among his influences, was a runner-up on the fifth season of "Australian Idol" in 2007. In 2011, Corby became a certified hitmaker when he released his most successful EP to-date, titled "Into the Flame". The album peaked at No. 3 on the ARIA Singles Chart and was certified 6x Platinum by ARIA. His singles "Brother" and "Resolution" have won Song of the Year in ARIA Music Awards.
