A Queensland adventurer, Jay Phoenix, breaks the bungee jumping world record.

Jay Phoenix proved himself to be a dauntless jumper by throwing himself 150 times in thin air. He became the man to claim the world record for this daring sport in more than 21 hours. The record breaking event began at 6am (AEST) on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2013. The audacious Phoenix took his leap of faith several times from a 40 meter high platform setup for the event to take place at Bungy Australia in Kingston Park Raceway, Logan.

The Australian adventurer broke the record of a South African bungee jumper, Kevin Scott Huntly. Kevin's record was set in 2011 who dared to make 105 jumps at that time.

The numbers clearly show that Phoenix has not only smashed the previous record but has set an extremely challenging bench mark for the jumpers. On an average, Phoenix had set his pace at jumping over a seven times in an hour.

Friday morning brought exultation of victory along with sore ankles, sore neck and shoulders as reported by the new record holder, Jay Phoenix, who spent 24 hours

"I'm in good spirits but especially fatigued," Phoenix told Herald Sun.

Phoenix, who was determined to set a record, harder than ever before, was thought to be crazy by his family and friends to be doing so. He only needed 106 jumps to claim the title, but he determinedly pushed himself to achieve more.

"That's the least I'll be happy with," he said.

"I want to see how far I can push myself mentally and physically," he said.

The 30-year-old Phoenix is a die-hard fan of this sport and enjoys every bit of it. "I just enjoy the sensation of when you leave the platform - you float, you feel like you're flying," he said.

The 40 meter high platform is said to be as high as a fourteen storey building.
