It is an Australian Twitter user who is allegedly a "prestige member" of an international terrorist group. “Australi Witness” is also one of those who called for an attack on the organisers of an exhibition of Prophet Muhammad cartoons.

The user’s posts often include hashtags like #Sharia4Australia and #IS. The user is believed to be the one who had communication with the man who was shot dead during the attack. The Melbourne man earlier shared a map of the community centre where the exhibition was held. He asked “brothers in Texas” to attack the centre with “weapons, bombs or with knifes.”

According to SITE Intelligence Group, the Melbourne man is one of those who actively seeks recruits for the Islamic State and constantly look for targets for other people to attack. Executive Director Rita Katz said that such people were working non-stop to incite other attacks.

Katz was asked if American government agencies were aware of the Twitter user’s activities. She said that those agencies were struggling even to monitor American activities. "The Australians are having problems following their own guys, you want [the Americans] to follow them too?" she answered.

According to Katz, this is a totally new war which is being fought on social networks. Thousands of twitter accounts are being created every day.

Two gunmen opened fire on police in a suburb near Dallas and were killed in police firing on Sunday. One of the men is suspected to have had plans of joining militant forces in Somalia. While the motive of the attack was not clear immediately, it was believed to be a reaction to anti-Islamic opinions by the organisers of the exhibition.

Dutch parliament member Geert Wilders, one of the key speakers at the event, is known for his opinionated disapproval of the Muslim existence in Europe. Militant groups like al-Qaeda have already denounced his views.

Australi Witness earlier informed about the event to his “brothers” in the United States. “Kuffar (disbelievers) are holding a large ‘Draw Muhammed (PBUH)’ event in Garland, Texas on May 3rd. Please spread to US brothers,” he wrote about the event. The competition was giving an award worth AUD12,775 for the best caricature of the Prophet of Islam.
