Mohamed Elomar, the Sydney boxing champion who joined Islamic State, has used a Yazidi toddler to promote his political ideologies. He shared a photo online that shows the toddler holding a gun.

Elomar has shared the image using a Twitter account which appears to be his own. The image shows the young boy his finger pointed to the sky and his dummy sitting on his chest. “Meet Amjed was a Yehzidi but I think his starting to get the Idea that ISIS is a way of life,” the caption says. The image with a message which ends with an Arabic phrase honouring Islamic State is no more available on Twitter as the account (@hafsozzie) appears to have been suspended. The Daily Telegraph reports that it was Elomar who tried selling a young Yazidi girl for $2500 in December. He said that he managed to get one of the 7 Yazidi girls who were available to be sold. He assured the potential buyer that the girl would not “disappoint” him. Elomar later deleted the post.

The 30-year-old IS militant used his Twitter account to explain how his organisation butchered Shiites and apostates. He also gave reasons behind taking Yazidi and Christian children and women as slaves. He said in a post in 2014 that Islamic State militants take the women as “war booty.” It depends on the religion of the woman to determine if she should be considered as a slave or not. His statement appeared to have indicated that women who did not follow Islam were more likely to be kept as slaves. The Middle Eastern extremists have captured around 2500 Yazidi women who are reported to be tortured and raped.

Elomar, who apparently works closely with notorious extremist Khaled Sharrouf, was seen with decapitated heads of Syrian soldiers earlier in 2014. He is believed to be based in Raqqa which happens to be a stronghold of his organisation. The Australian boxer, who drives around Syria in a BMW, appreciated Melbourne militant Mahmoud Abdullatif who had earlier been reported to have died in Syria.

Australia did not allow Elomar’s wife and children to leave the country in 2014. Contact the writer: s.mukhopadhyay@IBTimes.com.au
