MTV officially announced through a video draft that Rebel Wilson will host the MTV Movie Awards in April 2013. This will be the first time that an Australian actress and comedienne will participate in the prestigious awards show at Los Angeles.

Rebel Wilson also took to the social networking site "Twitter" her excitement about her hosting gig next year. "Uh huh, secret's out, I'm starring in the MTV Movie Awards in 2013 xx," Wilson posted on her Twitter account @RebelWilson.

In 2011, the 28-year-old "Pitch Perfect" actress catapulted to international stardom after her highly-praised comedic performance in the film "Bridesmaids." Since then, she starred in numerous Hollywood movies such as "Bachelorette," "What to Expect When You're Expecting," "Small Apartments," "Struck by Lightning" and "Ice Age: Continental Drift."

MTV's announcement brought out the excited responses from the international media. "From the department of really fantastic decision-making: MTV has tapped actress Rebel Wilson to host their annual movie awards," the Los Angeles Times reported.

The MTV Movie Awards always present a crazy but fun approach to the usually formal Academy Awards show. "Get ready for some laughs at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards," ABC news in America stated.

In the promotional trailer at MovieAwards.MTV.com, Rebel Wilson provided a sneak peak of the awards show where she is seen portraying an expressionless hostage with a candy bar inside her mouth. The trailer also hinted the possibility of British actor Matt Lucas' participation in the upcoming MTV Movie Awards.

The MTV Movie Awards hosting privilege has already drawn several famous comedians in the past such as Russell Brand, Eddie Murphy, Jimmy Fallon, Will Smith, Mike Myers and Ben Stiller. Now, Rebel Wilson is expected to offer and even surpass the previous hosts with her unique comedic spin to the entire ceremony with her humorous acting skills.
