Australian cricket team had close to the perfect day of Test Cricket after winning the toss and electing to bat against a very young Indian team. The most experienced member of the team is captain Virat Kohli who has played just 33 Test Matches. They made their advantage count by scoring 348 runs for the loss of two wickets in their allotted 90 overs in the day at 3.86 runs per over.

Openers David Warner and Chris Rogers gave the hosts a dream start by scoring 56 runs in the first 10 overs. This inexperienced Indian bowling attack has leaked more than 50 runs in the first ten overs of a Test Match in the last three of the four innings.

The first breakthrough came when the Australian total crossed 200 runs. This is the fourth occasion when Australia made 150 plus runs stand against India in the last eight years. David Warner have been involved in two of them.

David Warner had by then scored his 11th Test Match century. Probably also his most relaxed endeavour. His innings consisted of 114 balls and 182 minutes with 13 boundaries. Chris Rogers played on the very next over. He must have been disgusted at himself at being out just five short of his century. With this dismissal Rogers also becomes the first Australian batsman to score five half centuries in a series without converting any of them into a century. He is also the fourth Australian to score five back to back half centuries.

The little opening that the Indian bowlers managed to get were soon shut on their faces by Shane Watson and skipper Steve Smith. At the close of play both have crossed their respective half centuries and are looking set for a big score both individually as well as for the team. This was also the first time that the top four Australian batsmen have scored fifty plus runs against India at home.

The pedestrian Indian bowling will not offer any threat for the inform Australian batting order. With another 200 runs on the board Australia should declare and push hard for an innings victory.
