Australian singer/songwriter Rolf Harris, 83, was re-arrested for another allegation of sexual abuse.

He was first arrested in March by officers from Operation Yewtree, which, however, did not confirm that it was indeed Mr Harris whom they rearrested.

He was bailed in May and then bailed again until August "pending further inquiries," The Sunday Morning Herald reported.

"He has returned on bail today where he was further arrested on suspicion of sexual offences in connection with further allegations made to Operation Yewtree. He has been rebailed to ... later in August. We are not prepared to discuss further, nor comment on the identity of who the man arrested may be," the Metropolitan said.

According to a report from the Australian Associated Press, Mr Harris made a public appearance at the Wickham Festival in Hampshire on Sunday before answering bail on Monday.

Mr Harris addressed his fans emotionally, hinting on what he had been going through.

"Just before I go any further, I would just like to thank you all for my support ... for your support. I didn't say it very well, but you know what I mean. Thank you for your support, I will always wear it," Mr Harris said.

The scandal surrounding Mr Harris confused fans and not-fans alike for he kept on being arrested and being bailed for obscure reasons.

It was in November 2012 that Mr Harris was first questioned about the alleged sexual abuse. However, he has still not been charged and continued to deny any participation in the crime.

Earlier this 2013, police from United Kingdom travelled to Australia to interview the two women who were allegedly abused.

One woman who was interviewed was Lauren Martell, 43, residing in Sydney. Although Ms Martell contacted the Scotland Yard in November, she did admit being a victim of any sexual offence.

The sex scandal surrounding Mr Harries came in the wake of a television documentary alleging former BBC disc jockey Jimmy Sevile of sexually abusing countless children. Mr Savile, 84, had unfortunately died in 2011.

Mr Harris "falls under the strand of the investigation we have termed 'others'", the Met said to clarify suspicions that Mr harris was being questioned in relation to Mr Sevile's case.
