Former Tour de France winner Cadel Evans said he's not going to give up easily, even though Great Britain's Chris Froome continues to build lead heading into the halfway mark of the 2013 Tour de France.

Evans, the 2011 winner of the world's greatest biking race, said he still had chance to take over in the race, insisting all he needs is to have better results in the upcoming big climbs, particularly in the French Alps.

"Movistar and Saxo Bank had the strongest teams," Evans said in his diary, according to Fox News. "Which could change the direction of the race, or at least people's thinking of the direction of the race. We'll see when we get to the TT and the Alps."

Evans moved up to 14th place in the general classification standings after a solid performance in Wednesday's individual time trial, in which Germany's Tony Martin dominated.

Froome padded his lead to three minutes and 25 seconds after finishing just 12 seconds slower than Martin in the individual time trial. Froome, an individual time trial bronze medalist at the 2012 Olympic Games, is followed by Alejandro Valverde of Movistar and Bauke Mollema of Belkin Pro Cycling in the GC standings.

Meanwhile, Alberto Contador is now sitting at fourth place, just three minutes and 54 seconds behind Froome.
