Auckland Airport has appointed Phil Neutze as the new chief financial officer of the company.

Auckland Airport’s chief executive Adrian Littlewood has said in a media release that Neutze joined Auckland Airport in March 2010 as the Head of Business Intelligence. He has been the Company’s acting chief financial officer since August 2015, Littlewood says. According to Littlewood, Neutze’s formal appointment comes after an extensive search process.

“Over the past six years Phil has played a critical role in our finance team as well as in the development of our ‘Faster Higher Stronger’ business strategy and our regulatory information disclosure programme,” Littlewood says. “As a consequence he has an intimate understanding of the Company and what drives our business.”

The chief financial officer is responsible for managing Auckland Airport’s corporate strategy, financial affairs, procurement, legal, aeronautical pricing, risk management and insurance matters.

“I love working for Auckland Airport and helping to grow travel, trade and tourism for New Zealand,” Neutze says. “The almost six years I have been with the Company gives me a great basis on which to take on this exciting new role.”

Neutze holds an MBA degree with distinction. He is a certified member of the Institute of Finance Professionals NZ Inc. Neutze has been an investment banker for a decade now. He has previously worked with JPMorgan, PwC and Ord Minnett.

Littlewood says Neutze has been responsible for a number of significant initiatives for Auckland Airport scincluding the $450 million capital return to shareholders in 2014. He adds that Neutze played a key role in the company’s investment in Queenstown Airport in 2010.

In his time with the company, Neutze has delivered around $2 billion of debt raisings from banks, and domestic and United States capital markets, Littlewood says. Neutze also oversaw the detailed work underpinning the company’s current aeronautical pricing.

The executive says he is delighted to appoint Neutze as the appointment testifies Neutze’s capability and knowledge of the business.
