There is plenty of anticipation for the upcoming “Attack on Titan” video game from publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Omega Force, so a new trailer for the game should only rise said excitement. The video below shows much more gameplay than previous trailers of the game and even showcases different characters, which fans of the anime and manga may appreciate.

Along with a new trailer, the video game also has a new release date for Japanese audiences. According to Siliconera, the game will be coming out early next year on February 2016, so fans in Japan only have a few more months to wait for it.

Unfortunately a proper release date hasn’t been unveiled for the Western version. Gematsu states that it still has a vague 2016 release date, though more news might come regarding a proper release date sometime after the Japanese version comes out.

As can be seen in the video below the gameplay is very similar to what can be seen in the anime or manga, with plenty of zipping through buildings and titan slicing. Should players time their attacks correctly they will be able to slash out limbs or instantly kill a titan with an attack to the back of the neck.

Throughout the video, viewers get to see Eren, Mikasa, Armin and Levi in action. What’s interesting about the trailer are the number of locations seen, so it looks like missions won’t be restricted to the main town seen in the anime, as players also have to attack titans in forests and other areas as well.

It also seems like teamwork will be a big part of the game, since players will be able to save their companions from getting eaten by a Titan. Considering how many characters have died in both the anime and manga it will be interesting to see if the player can prevent certain deaths in the game.

“Attack on Titan” will be out in 2016 for Western gamers and will be available on the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. Japanese gamers will be able to pre-order a special “Treasure Box” edition of the game, with numerous extras. No special edition has been announced for the Western edition.
