The highly anticipated video game based “Assassin’s Creed” movie is set to begin production in September this year. Cast member Michael Fassbender spoke about the past delays of the project and expressed his excitement about filming the movie, in a recent interview.

The “Assassin’s Creed” game series began in 2007 and quickly became a success. The popularity of the game series prompted Ubisoft Motion Pictures to begin developing a movie based on the games for 20th Century Fox. Michael Fassbender spoke to ComingSoon about why the fans had to wait for so long for the movie to begin production.

“You say it’s a long time but what I’ve found–it’s all new to me but starting to develop scripts and work on them, they take time,” Michael Fassbender said in the interview. The actor was reacting to a comment by the interviewer about the project having taken so long to be developed. The actor also explained that the producers were trying to get a “good story together” and wanted to “do it right.”

The actor announced that the production of the “Assassin’s Creed” movie will begin in September, but did not give details about the storyline or even the characters featuring in the movie. When it was pointed out that reports suggest that he will be playing the popular character Desmond Miles in the movie, the actor neither confirmed nor denied the reports.

“You don’t know that. Don’t listen to what they tell you, that’s the first rule,” Michael Fassbender said while discussing his possible role as Desmond Miles. The actor also emphasised that it is “challenge” for the producers to choose a story from the “dense” storylines that have been told in the games from the franchise.

Michael Fassbender stated that the producers found it difficult to “pick key things” from the “many elements” in the “Assassin’s Creed” gaming universe. The producers apparently wanted to translate all the complexities that are a part of the gaming world into a “simple story” that is “engaging” for the movie audience.

There are at least 8 video games from the franchise, including the 2015 “Assassin’s Creed: Victory” and multiple spin-off games. The fans of the franchise are eagerly waiting to see some of their favourite characters in the upcoming “Assassin’s Creed” movie.
