England’s Mark Wood has declared he will bowl bouncers at Australia’s Chris Rogers if the opening batsman will play for the third Ashes Test at Edgbaston. Rogers suffered a dizzy spell during the second Test at Lord’s after being hit behind the ear by James Anderson’s bouncer.

The 25-year-old Wood, who is playing in his first Ashes series, will have no remorse at bouncing Rogers if the Australian cricketer plays in the third Test, according to Indian Express. Wood said Rogers’ current condition will not stop him from bowling a bouncer, claiming the rest of England’s squad will do the same.

"You might have the intent or aggression to hit people but when they do get hit it's not really that nice, especially when he had a dizzy spell. If he declares himself fit for the next game that will not deter me from bowling a bouncer, though,” Wood said as reported by Daily Mail.

Wood was not an exemption in England’s struggle during the second Test, which Australia won by 405-run. However, the right-handed batsman is determined to bounce back and cement his spot in England’s lineup for the rest of the series.

Meanwhile, Rogers came back with the tourists’ Test squad on Saturday and will undergo further medical assessment to determine his fitness for Wednesday’s Test at Edgbaston. Australia’s team doctor Peter Brukner issued a statement on Saturday, saying Rogers has continued to improve his condition and has re-joined the team in Nottingham on Friday night.

“He will continue to increase his level of activity over the next couple of days and will be closely monitored by team medical staff,” Brukner added.

There were concerns that Rogers was a victim of delayed concussion, but tests revealed that the problem might be in the 37-year-old’s ear. Australia drafted back-up opener Shaun Marsh in their squad as a preemptive move in case Rogers would not be cleared to play for the team.
