Hotel Room Drama Continues To Dog Matthew Newton

While he has already apologized and agreed to pay for the repairs incurred by the damage caused to his hotel room, new details about Matthew Newton's trashed hotel room just won't stop emerging, even though the writer/actor/director maintains that he was not in the room at the time of the incident.

A maintenance crew sent by the hotel to clean up the mess was not very surprised to find a smashed bottle and a mattress on the floor. What was more puzzling, however, was the mischief that had caused one section of the flat screen TV to be completely melted and the translucent covering on the screening to peel away.

While having a lamp ripped out from a wall may not sound like much, the destructive act also broke the supporting heavy duty liner board and gypsum core behind it. Bizarrely, there were also what looked like scratch marks in the carpet. Neither the actor nor his girlfriend, under whose name the room was booked, was present at the time the damage was caused.

An insider who attended GQ Man of the Year Award party said that Matthew appeared sober and that he was not with a large group of friends, lending credence to his stand that he was not at fault for the damage.

This guy is a total jerk. How could Bert and Patty spawn such an unsavoury creature. He's not even a good actor. I hope he gets charged for malicious damage - although he'll probably get Chris Murphy to get him off the hook yet again.
