Matthew Newton in Trouble Again

The actor might be taking the bad-boy gig a bit too far with what happened at the fashionable Vibe hotel in Rushcutters's Bay last week.

It has come to light that a room booked under his girlfriend Rachel Taylor's (of Transformers fame) name at the chic hotel was found in a deplorable state on Saturday morning. The incident follows Newton's attendance of the GQ Men of the Year Awards held in Sydney last Thursday night. The event saw fellow actor Sam Worthington winning awards for GQ Actor of the Year and GQ Man of the Year.

The damage is believed to have come to light only after staff entered the room on Saturday morning after Newton did not check out. The room was described as being in complete disarray and with some property damage. The Underbelly star has come forward to take responsibility and apologized for the carnage.

A spokeswoman noted that while Newton has agreed to shoulder the cost of the damages, he is unsure who the responsible parties actually are. Estimates of the repair bill are varying, with one putting the sum at $9000. The exact amount has not been confirmed. Given the extent of the mess, police are currently investigating the matter.
