Things are set to change quickly for Stan Walker after he beat fellow finalist Hayley Warner for the Australian Idol title last night. With his victory, Stan 'The Man' wins a Sony recording contract and an artiste development fund of $200,000. As if his future wasn't bright enough already, his first single, 'Black Box' will be released within the next few weeks. This, despite the finale being a television event that failed to reach the same ratings levels as last year's finale.


The shop assistant-turned-pop star saw his family coming all the way from New Zealand, where he was raised, to support him. When Stan was announced the winner, the ecstatic relatives burst into a spontaneous haka to celebrate his victory.
