Hartlepool United. -

Not bad to be rated with a 3.5 out of 5.0 stars, the film ‘Damned United' ; is produced by Andy Harris, Grainne Marmion and directed by Tom Hooper. The casting team constitute of Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall, Colm Meaney and Oliver Clough. This new sports film is about Brian Clough, the youngest manager whom had been hired to manage Leeds United in the football league when he was just 30, where he joined the Hartlepool United.

During his successful reconstruction of the team, Clough was cited to belittle Derby County owner and his board of Directors, denounce his rival managers and teams. Hence he was fired after only 44 days as manager. These 44 days reflect the core gist of this film with its underlying dismay and bitterness of a hero. Sheen is gifted with outstanding acting skills that had dramatically but yet gently portrayed the ugly wounded sports hero.

Timothy Spall plays Clough's business assistant manager, Peter Taylor, his best friend for many years, for which they had shared the rocky bumpy path of friendship until they came to Hartlepool United.
