02 July 2009 @ 12:00 am AEST

It sounds too good to be true, get paid $150,000 to explore the white beaches of Australias Hamilton Island, snorkel, sail, and scuba dive. The only true "work" part of the whole deal? You have to promote the island in an online diary.

This "dream job" is a dream come true for Briton Ben Southall. Southall was picked out of 34,000 entries in the Tourism Queenslands Best Job in the World competition.

Facing, a 4.1% decrease in international visitors, Tourism Queenland officials dreamed up this dream job as a way to generate money and publicity. They project that the campaign is already worth more than $100 million in publicity.

It was Southalls enthusiasm, energy and adventurous spirit that won him the job.

His application video showing him in Africa, riding an ostrich and kissing a giraffe!
