"Seven Pounds" ranked number one on the international box office over the weekend with an estimated gross of $19.8 million from 3,502 screens in 25 markets.
The film numbers were gathered from Spain with $4.2 million and second-place openings in France with $3 million and in the UK with $2.4 million.
"Seven Pounds" ended the victory of a four-weekend winning streak by Paramount's "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa," which pulled in $8.3 million at 6,5054 in 61 markets.
"Twilight" Summit International's vampire hit, placed number two overseas on the weekend. Overall the film grossed $13.1 million from 3,465 screens and raised its overseas total to $135 million.
