SYDNEY - Foster's Group Ltd FGL.AX, Australia's biggest brewer, said it had appointed non-executive director Ian Johnston as acting chief executive officer until the role is filled permanently in the first half of its fiscal 2009.
Last month, Foster's said CEO Trevor O'Hoy would leave and the company announced a review its underperforming wine business.
Foster's said the previously announced review of its wine business, the world's second-largest, is also expected to conclude during the first half.
Analysts expect Foster's to either sell its wine business following the review, or look at a separate listing of its beer and wine businesses.
Johnston is a former managing director of global confectionary for Cadbury Schweppes and has extensive experience in the international beverage industry. ($1=A$1.03) (Reporting by Denny Thomas; Editing by James Thornhill)
