It has been a very frustrating decade for the supporters of the Arsenal Football Club. Every year they think that this will be the year when Arsene Wenger's men would reach escape velocity and make it a season to remember. Unfortunately for them things just never work out as planned. This Saturday Arsenal FC face another club in Newcastle United FC whose fans also know a thing or two about ending seasons after seasons with bitter disappointment.

Apart from that there are three other curious aspects that are similar to these two very well supported clubs. Firstly these two clubs have the strongest French connections of all the 20 Premier League clubs and also curiously have very similar records at this point in the league. After 15 games in the league both teams have won six, drawn five and lost four matches each. Both have also conceded 18 goals. Arsenal FC have scored 24 to Newcastle United FC's 17 goals so far. In the last six matches in the league both teams have won three each.

The weirdest co-incidence is that both have been riddled with injuries to their first team squads. Newcastle United FC are currently topping the table of the most injured players among all the Premier League clubs at ten, Arsenal FC are not that behind with seven.

After a deflating away defeat to Stoke City FC last weekend Arsenal FC will be buoyed by their very impressive Champions League performances midweek away to Galatasaray where they won the match one-four. What will also bring a smile to Arsene Wenger's face will be the fact that in the last ten matches against Newcastle United FC they have lost just one with seven victories and two draws.

With fixtures coming thick and fast in the month of December both Wenger and Newcastle United FC Manager Alan Pardew will be looking forward to January when the European transfer window re-opens so that they can bolster their respective depleted squads.
