Oliver will get a new Chief of Staff in “Arrow” Season 5. With the Mob rising as the new criminal element in Star City that the hero has to fight; he will need capable hands to handle the administrative functions at the Mayor’s office.

[Spoiler alert]

Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) are the only two characters left in the superhero team. John Diggle (David Ramsey) will be joining the army and Thea (Willa Holland) was also adamant about leaving the team. According to a report by Entertainment Weekly Thea will be joining at the new Chief of Staff of Star City’s Mayor.

Towards the end of the last season, Oliver was appointed as the new Mayor of Star City. The actor previously admitted that his character is more focused on his vigilante work and has not done a good job as the Mayor.

Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim teased that Thea is actually “really, really good” at her job, which comes as a surprise to even her. The job will help her to establish herself independent of Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman).

The producer said that the skills Thea learnt while watching her mother for all those years, and running Verdant are “transferrable” to City Hall. Guggenheim remarked that she is a much better Chief of Staff than Oliver is Mayor. The character will surprisingly find some happiness in her new role.

There will be challenges for Thea though. The trailer of the next season teased Oliver getting kidnapped and being tortured.

“Arrow” Season 5 is set to premiere on Oct. 5. The title of the first episode is “Legacy.” The main plot of the new season deals with Oliver recruiting new vigilantes to join his team. He will have to train the rookies, which will prove to be quite a challenge. The flashbacks this year will be in Russia and the fans will finally come to know how the hero got the Bratva tattoo.
