Amell interacted with some of the fans at the event who were concerned about not seeing any “reassuring notions” about the future of Olicity. Responding to the comments, the actor said that the relationship of the two main characters doesn’t have to be “defined by romance,” TV Line reports.

“Oliver and Felicity could have a wonderful, fulfilling, dynamic relationship and not be together, right?” Amell said. The actor explained “that’s how the world works.”

Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) briefly engaged in the previous season, but the latter broke off the engagement after learning that her fiancé was hiding the fact that he had a son. Felicity left the superhero team, but was forced to return later.

“I hope that they’re both in a happy positive place,” Amell said about “Arrow” Season 5. “Whether that means they’re together or not remains to be seen.”

David Ramsey (John Diggle) teased some details about what the fans can expect to see next on the show. “Mayhem, death, love,” is what the fans can expect, according to the actor. He also teased that Oliver and Felicity will be seen “breaking up and getting back together.”

Amell teased that the new villain being introduced on the show “is a direct result of things that Oliver has done in Star City.” He added that the show now “calls back to a lot of things that happened in the first season.” The new plot grounds the TV series and focuses on its “core value,” which is to save Star City.

The flashback scenes in “Arrow” Season 5 will be about Russia, Amell revealed. Meanwhile, John Diggle’s Spartan mask will get a “Cisco-created” upgrade.
