“Arrow” Season 4, Episode 21 (“Monument Point”) airs May 11 on The CW. In this week’s new episode, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) is expected to harness his ability to fight dark magic, as Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) gets ready to launch Genesis. Meanwhile, the Calculator (Tom Amandes) and his daughter Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) reconnect for a cause.

Spoiler alert: This review includes the highlights in the latest episodes of “Arrow” Season 4. Major character and plot developments are included.

What is Monument Point?

It is not a thing; it is a location, a site. Monument Point exists in the DC Comics universe as a superhero city, the mayor of which was Jay Garrick a.k.a. The Flash. The CW’s “Arrow” is expected to offer a twist in connection to Damien Darhk and his evil plan to annihilate mankind, or at least most of the people in the world, to rebuild a new world through nuclear explosions.

Oliver Queen has recently learned to fend off Darhk’s magic. Is defense his best offence here, or will he acquire new skills to end the big bad villain of “Arrow” Season 4?

Darhk’s Genesis Project is the proverbial great flood in the bible, as far as Team Arrow is concerned. However, it seems the modern-day disaster could be prevented by mad computer skills (on top of some magic skills). This is why Felicity’s previously estranged father is returning.

Noah Kuttler a.k.a. the Calculator

Known as the Calculator, Noah Kuttler may just be the best villain to help Oliver beat Damien Darhk. The synopsis of Episode 21 reveals Noah and Oliver discuss something that will leave Oliver “rattled.” Is this a seed for “Arrow” Season 5, or is it something more urgent?

Felicity Smoak is expected to have a lot of significant screen time in “Arrow” Season 4, Episode 21 mostly because her dad is present. She is also back to being Oliver’s cheerleader in moments of doubt and self-pity, when the Green Arrow is lost. The two, however, are not showing signs of getting back together. Will there be a new woman in Oliver’s life in the show’s fifth season?

Meanwhile, Thea Queen (Willa Holland) is trapped in some fantasy world, and her boyfriend Alex Davis (Parker Young) is not getting why she is upset about being imprisoned. Ollie and Dig rescue Thea in Episode 22, the penultimate episode of the fourth season.

Bye soon, Damien!

Neal McDonough has been a believable threat all season long, thanks to his naturally strong presence and the manner by which he is selling his character’s dark magic. He killed Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), and he was the monster in Dig’s brother’s head. He may be a fine actor but McDonough won’t be missed when “Arrow” Season 4 ends. Damien Darhk has caused enough misery in Star City, and fans are eager to see his TV story come to an end – for good.

“Arrow” Season 4, Episode 22 (“Lost in the Flood”) is expected to feature the same characters in the eye of the storm. The Calculator stays on for more than one episode.
