“Arrow” Season 4, Episode 23 (“Schism”) aired May 25 on The CW, ending a season-long battle with H.I.V.E. leader and ex League of Assassins member Damien Darhk, portrayed by Neal McDonough. Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen becomes something else (again) in the season ender.

Spoiler alert: This article contains “Arrow” Season 4 spoilers. Details include clues to what happens next in “Arrow” Season 5.

The Hierarchy of International Vengeance and Eliminations a.k.a. HIVE failed to launch its Genesis mission, thanks to Team Arrow, The Calculator a.k.a. Noah Kuttler (played by recurring guest star Tom Amandes) and Curtis Holt (played by new series regular Echo Kellum). Even the Dark Archer a.k.a. Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) was helpful in the end.

‘Arrow’ Season 5: Taiana’s family in Russia and Kovar

All the flashback scenes with Taiana (Elysia Rotaru) and Baron Reiter (Jimmy Akingbola) at Lian Yu seem to have wrapped up. In “Arrow” Season 5, Oliver is expected to be seen in Russia, talking to Taiana’s parents and having an encounter with the ominous Kovar.

Kovar and the havoc he had been causing in Russia is the reason why Taiana was tempted to absorb power from the dangerous artifact or idol. Oliver killed Taiana out of mercy. He must then keep his promise of reaching out to Taiana’s family. Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) resurfaced in the Arrow 4x23 finale flashback to remind Oliver that sometimes, justice requires killing.

Team Arrow breaks up, suits rest

In the beginning of “Arrow” Season 4, Oliver Queen was living a domesticated life, talking about slow cooking with his neighbors and planning his proposal to Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) a.k.a. Overwatch. Now, his team members are off to a break, while he takes office at the Star City Hall as the new mayor.

In the final scene of Arrow 4x23, Oliver and Felicity take a good look at the team’s suits, presumably wondering whether there would be a time to suit up again. At this point, there is no clue as to what Felicity will be up to while the show is on hiatus.

Like Felicity, Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) is now officially jobless. So he is going on a trip with Donna Smoak (Charlotte Ross). Thea a.k.a. Speedy (Willa Holland) needs to re-evaluate her life. John Diggle a.k.a. Spartan (David Ramsey) goes back to military service.

‘Arrow’ Season 5: What did Oliver promise to Laurel Lance a.k.a. Black Canary?

The writers are expected to revisit the promise that Oliver made to Laurel (Katie Cassidy) shortly before she died. This is one of the things that fans can look forward to in the next season. Obviously, however, the big question is, who is the big villain in the fifth season? Is it Kovar, or a man named James (assuming they are different persons)?

James is a series regular in “Arrow” Season 5, TV Line has confirmed. He could “just as easily shake your hand as your best friend or break your neck as your worst enemy.”
