"Arrow" Season 3, Episode 5, titled "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak," airs Wednesday, Nov. 5, on The CW. This develops after the Black Canary origin has been established in the TV adaptation. As fans get ready to meet Felicity's mother, Laurel Lance is being trained by another DC Comics hero, Wildcat. On top of that, Katie Cassidy is teasing the new Canary may be suiting up with a new mask.

Charlotte Ross ("NYPD" Blue) guest stars on Arrow Season 3, Episode 5 as the mother of Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards). In an earlier report, TV Line called this episode "Oracle."

Felicity was recently in Central City in a crossover episode on The CW's new DC Comics adaptation, "The Flash." Three DC comic superheroes are romantically involved, story-wise, with Felicity: Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen (since Season 1), Grant Gustin's Barry Allen (mid-Season 2), and Brandon Routh's Ray Palmer aka Atom (Season 3).

Meanwhile, Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) gets her own fighting trainer after her on-again, off-again boyfriend Oliver Queen refused to train her, saying Sara (Caity Lotz) would not want him to. Laurel's trainer, Ted Grant, is known as Wildcat in DC Comics. He is portrayed by JR Ramirez, who makes his first appearance on the series in Arrow Season 3, Episode 4. Here is JR's teaser photo on Twitter.

In her WhoSay account, Cassidy seems to hint a new mask is being molded for Black Canary.

In Arrow Season 3, Episode 4 ("Corto Maltese"), Laurel learns from Ollie that Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) may not be her sister's killer.

"Oliver and Felicity try to contain the destruction caused by a cyber attack that rocks Starling City. Meanwhile, Felicity's mother makes a surprise visit; Ted questions Laurel's motives; and Thea buys an apartment with Malcolm's so-called estate money," reads the Arrow Season 3, Episode 5 synopsis on TV.com.

Thea Queen/Merlyn (Willa Holland), whom Oliver calls "Speedy," has been trained by her biological father, the Dark Archer. The two are expected to have a strange father-daughter relationship in Arrow Season 3 as the show progresses.

Arrow Season 3 airs Wednesdays on The CW.
